Brief summary of work completed of white topping replacing the paver blocks at Hiranandani Meadows

Dr.V.V.Deshmukh (Material scientist) of the e-Cube consultant takes the pleasure to be associated with M/S Hiranandani Construction as consultant. The scope of the consultancy was the replacement of existing interlocking blocks of 125mm height which were laid at the junctions of concrete road and new road at Hiranandani Meadows with UTWT (Ultra thin white topping) technology. The story began one year before when then TMC city engineer Mr.K.D.Lala directed Mr, Cyrus Pithawalla Director Engineering at Hiranandani construction to me  who has first introduced UTWT technology in thane city and it is now used for the thane city internal roads. The mix design and construction methodology was provided by me and supervised by e-cub consultant. The area of around 5000sq.meter has been laid with UTWT. The project started on 10^th Jan’ 2015 and completed on 23^rd March 2015.

The following areas were replaced by UTWT’

·        Road from Gemini Tower to India bulls

·        Road at Junction of T

·        Road at woodrose and Whitefield

·        Road at junction of north side

·        Road at Hazelnet to Emrald plaza

 The assignment was challenging because though Dr.Deshmukh has earlier carried out  UTWT jobs, the white topping on WBM (Water bound macadam) was the first of its kind and also because of our first opportunity to work as consultant to Hiranandani construction who are one of the bests in quality of construction, design and aesthetics

The methodology of white topping is as follows

Ø  Remove the existing interlocking concrete blocks

Ø  Remove the grit powder used for fixing the concrete blocks

Ø  DBM is .compacted with the roller and surface is ready for white topping

Ø  Saturate the surface with water and sprinkle the cement water slurry

Ø  Fix the metal channel of 125mm height.

Ø  Pour the concrete and level it with the screed vibrator

Ø  Cut the joints 1meter by 1metr

The mix design of the concrete used at Meadows is based on the condition of the road and therefore can-not be used for another application without consulting us. The concrete is supplied by Lafarge RMC at G.B.Road Thane.

 We have enjoyed working with Mr.Cyrus Pithawalla and his dedicated team. At Hiranandani Construction the quality checks, the testing of cubes and documenting of the results are of high standards and hence unique.

The e-cube consultant will be always interested to be associated with M/S Hiranandani Construction for future work.
