Engineered cementitious matrix for replacement of metal component

Introduction
The cement is manufactured in a rotary kiln which is metallic shell lined with alumina based refractory bricks .The kiln is long with different temperature zones where material reaction takes place. Finally the product clinker is formed at 1450 degree centigrade and comes out falls on the cooler.
The tip of the kiln where the clinker is falling from the kiln needs to be protected by special type of metallic alloy which with stand 1450 degree temperature and is known as tip casting. The tip casting is costly because of metallc heavy and prone to corrosion erosion and abrasion and constantally folling on it highly abrasive material clinker.

The author has tried few matrix system as the one of the major component in where he used ordinary Portland cent ,high alumia cement as one of the major component in the matrix.

In case of tip casting the matrix is cementitious based on ordinary Portland cement ,alumina cement ,fine quartz and micro silica .
The aggregates like White tabular alumina ,silican carbide, calcined alumina is used as per the application.
In typical composition of tip casting is given below
10 high alumina cement
2) white tabular alumina/silican carbide
3) silica fume
4) steel fiber

The properties achieved are

Compressive strength 2500kg/cm2 with hot mor at 1200 degree centigrade is 170kg/cm2’
