TWT ( Thin white topping ) across the weigh bridge at CTTL.

TWT ( Thin white topping ) across the weigh bridge at CTTL.
The   CTTL (Chemical Terminal Trombay Ltd) is located at Mehul, Chembur. The company is engaged in distribution and servicing of bulk liquid chemicals and petroleum products and also flyash utilization activities. Daily average hundred or more tankers of 30-40 ton loading capacity carrying chemicals are moving out and same numbers empty tankers are coming inside the terminal The terminal is having storage facility and the chemicals are transported through tankers to respective destination. The company is committed to effective management of the natural and workplace environment to be its one of the highest priorities.
The existing bituminous road inside CTTL campus is designed as per Indian road congress.IRC-37.with CBR of sub-grade is considered as 2%.The entire terminal area is covered by bituminous macadam .The roads are ok except the area near the weigh bridge. The road is failing   because of the breaking action of the loaded tankers on the road. The tensile strength of the bituminous road is not enough to counter the strain generated by the breaking action of the 30 ton tankers.
During the inspection of the road wet patches were observed below the bituminous carpet which may cause the damage to the road The damage is causing delay in operation and there is always a fear of safety hazards.
The e-cube consultant has recommended TWT (Thin white topping) with high split tensile strength and high impact resistant values. The e-cube consultant has designed special concrete mix of M-60 grade with micro silica. Micro silica is obtained as byproduct of silicone industry. The synthetic polypropylene fibers  commonly known as PP fibers are used  to improve the structural and impact resistant properties. The BASF glenium sky 8880 is used. The significance of this admixture is its functional group poly-carboxyl ether.  The dispersion of Cement particle is due to ionic and  stearic hindrance properties. of  admixture

The very important highlight of this trail is the concrete of M-60 grade with 50% replacement of cement with VHSC processed flyash of Mundra power plant. The CTTL with e-cube consultant is first time testing VHSC product. Forty meter cube of concrete is made using VHSC and used in TWT concrete. This will be the successful venture of CTTL towards the flyash ut ilization. The success of this trail will radically change the economics of TATA group of companies but also change the construction industry at national level.
The following methodology  is used
The total area of `750 m2 near the weigh bridge is located.
1)      It is scarified to remove all the existing bituminous overlay. The existing bituminous overlay was totally damaged and there was no difficulty in removing it.
2)      The WBM exposed is compacted using 10 ton static roller. The WBM-III is used for filling the potholes crated and leveling the top surface
3)      100mm DLC /PCC of M-15 grade is laid  on WBM
4)      150mm M-60 grade concrete with pp fiber is laid on PCC.
5)      150mm M-60 grade concrete with OPC binder is replaced with VHSC.
6)      Cut the PQC one meter by one meter,
7)      Cured for seven days
The concrete is prepared in RMC pant located near by.
The road is ready for operation.
